“I rarely learn new board or card games because I typically become overwhelmed with rules and instructions, and it ends up being more of a stressful experience than a fun one. However, I had a great experience learning Mahjong with Jill! Her teaching style really resonated with me – I learned the game quickly and had a lot of fun doing so. Mahjong has many intricate rules throughout the different phases of the game. Jill taught us the rules and strategy in a stepwise matter, sharing only as much as we needed to know at each phase. She simplified the complex concepts and taught them in a manner that I found very accessible as a beginner. Her teaching was clear. She was very patient and didn’t rush, and I was able to play several hands on my own much more quickly than I thought possible. I also really appreciated that Jill didn’t just teach strategy – she also talked about the history and symbolism of the game, and made sure we took note of its various aesthetics (the clinking of the tyles representing the chattering of a sparrow, the use of a Mahjong matt to dampen the sound of the tiles, the intricate tyle designs, etc.). Finally, Jill clearly just loves teaching Mahjong – she was having just as much fun teaching as we were learning! My wife and I had such a fun evening with Jill and we will be soon booking a follow up lesson. Mahjong is definitely complex – at least it was for me. I can’t imagine learning the game by watching YouTube or reading an instruction manual. Having someone like Jill teach you the game is definitely worth the investment.”

“I don’t usually enjoy games, so I was pretty skeptical at first — but learning mahjong with Jill turned out to be such a fun experience. Her patience and enthusiasm made it easy to get into, and thanks to her encouragement, I ended up loving it. I’m really grateful for the time she took to teach our group.”
